SOLIS ZERO

THE SOLIS ZERO WAS MY FIRST CAR DESIGN. THE INSPIRATION OF THIS DESIGN WAS BASED ON THE IDEA OF HUBLESS WHEELS. THE IDEA WAS TO THEME A SPORT COUPE AROUND ITS HUBLESS WHEELS.

1: BONES -From the wheels, I then brainstormed the base bones. I took inspiration from Atomic Punk era aero designs to give the Zero a sharp yet sleek image and specific silhouette that could stand out and be recognized.

2: MUSCLES -The muscle of this design comes in play as the rounded fenders, which flow over the body of the car and meet in the center, yet come to a sharp, flowing edge at the front of the vehicle.

3: GRAPHICS -The graphics of this design are just as important as any other characteristic, the frontal lamps, which seamlessly move from the corners of the Zero's face and up the fenders. The daylight openings of this design bring attention first to the front, then stretch towards the rear, accompanying the vehicle's "fast" appearance. An upper/rear daylight opening serves as an accent to the main windshield. Shut lines and openings on this design are practical, efficient, and visually appealing. The lines that cover and stretch over the fenders and upper sections of the vehicle signify the Zero's canopy-style door. The other openings of this design are aerodynamic but are styled accordingly to emphasize the vehicle's overall visual tone.

SOLIS RAIL

The Solis Rail was my second time designing a vehicle. I designed this vehicle while also working on a school project covering rail guns. From that research I wondered if it would be possible to propel a vehicle with the same mannerism and technology which is used to propel the projectiles of a rail gun, hence the Rail. Because of the inspiration I designed the vehicle to look somewhat industrial in a sense.

1: BONES -This vehicle's bones or basic shape/silhouette is mainly made up of two characteristics: a smooth streamlined center housing for passengers and the driver. Then straight geometrical lines to add that industrial image, seemingly acting as protection to the flowing center lines. Although these two traits are quite counteractive they still work together, each moving into the next without any visual tension.

2: MUSCLES -I wanted geometry to be a very important part of this design, but had to make it match properly with the curved, smooth greenhouse. With the muscles, straight geometrical lines and angles are added to strengthen the overall personality. We add the wheel-well cutouts, fender lines, and a straight line cutting from the front to the rear to signify the transfer between the body and the greenhouse. Along with these, a front splitter lip is added as well as a spoiler, one which is shaped around the end of the greenhouse to increase downforce and aerodynamics.

3: GRAPHICS -The graphics of this design are more complex than that of the Zero. The lamps are straight and span the full width of the vehicle on the front and rear. Shut lines of the vehicle canopy opening are added to signify the sliding doors. Other geometrical lines are added to boost the overall character some acting as indents and others only filler. The Rims are smooth with very little detail so that your attention is not wasted or drawn to the wheels but to the body instead.

SOLIS SM-1

THE SOLIS SM-1 IS MY FIRST DESIGN WHICH IS BASED OFF AN EXISTING VEHICLE. IN THIS CASE, THIS DESIGN IS BASED OFF THE THIRD-GEN CAMARO BY CHEVROLET. THE PURPOSE OF THIS REDESIGN IS TO TAKE THE IROC-Z SPECIFICALLY AND ADD MY OWN TOUCHES AND SOME "INTIMIDATING" FACTORS.

1: BONES -FOR THE BONES OF THIS DESIGN I KEPT THE OVERALL SHARP, STRAIGHT EDGES, AND GEOMETRICAL DESIGN AND BUILT MORE ON IT. I PULLED AT THE FRONT FACIA TO MAKE IT SHARPER, LENGTHENED THE SPOILER AND PRESSED DOWN A LITTLE ON THE CANOPY.

2: MUSCLES -MUSCLE WISE I GAVE THE OVERALL FORM OF THE CAR A WIDE APPEARENCE, SOMEWHAT OF A STALKING PREDATOR. BEEFED UP THE FENDERS FOR WIDER WHEEL ARCHES. AS WELL AS CHANGING THINGS UP WITH THE FRONT FACIA, I OPENED UP THE BOTTOM TWO SECTIONS AND SHORTENED THE TOP. HOOD WISE I GAVE IT A SIMPLE STRAIGHT "HUMP" TO FIT MORE POWER AND REDIRENT AIR IN THREE.

3: GRAPHICS -A LARGE AMOUNT OF THIS DESIGN RESIDES IN THE GRAPHICS. STARTING WITH THE SHUTLINES. I CONNECTED THE HEADLIGHTS WITH THE REST OF THE HOOD AND SHARPENED UP THE DOOR PANELS TO ALIGN MORE WITH THE REST OF THE CARS GEOMETRY. THE HEADLIGHTS/FOGLIGHTS AND NOW FOUR RECTANGULAR AND SIMPLE BARS, BUT COMBINING THE TWO WITH THE ANGLES OF THE FRONT FACIA GIVES THE VEHICLE A STALKISH FACE. A LARGE CUT WAS MADE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE GRILL TO CREATE A LARGE FORCE INDUCTION AIR FLOW SYSTEM. THE RIMS ARE DESIGNED TO RESEMBLE THE BLADE LIGHT CLAWS OF A PREDATOR, AND THE TAILIGHTS TO STAND OUT MORE THAN ANYTHING ELSE, BECAUSE WHY WOULD YOU BE THE ONE BEHIND OTHER DRIVERS? LASTLY THE SPOILER HAS A SLIT CUT INSIDE WITH BLADES TO DIRECT AIRFLOW, MUCH LIKE THE GRILL.

SOLIS TRIDENT

THE TRIDENT IS MY MOST CONTEMPORARY DESIGN YET, AND MY SHARPEST. THE TRIDENT IS DESIGNED TO BE SINGLE SEATER THAT LOOKS LIKE IT CAME STRAIGHT FROM THE STARS. BASED AND DESIGNED ENTIRELY AROUND THREE GIANT SPIKES.

1: BONES -THE BONES, AS I TOUCHED ON IN THE CAPTION, ARE BASED ON THREE SIMPLE SPIKES. THE FIRST SKETCHES WERE JUST THESE THREE SHAPES AND THE REST WAS MOLDED AROUND THIS.

2: MUSCLES -ADDING ON FROM THE SIMPLE BONES THE THREE SHAPES ARE CONNECTED WITH A WIDENED TEADROP LIKE SHAPE THAT HOLDS THE BODY TOGETHER. THE FRONTS OF EACH FENDER IS BLUNTED OFF AND STRAIGHTENED OUT TO CUT THROUGH THE AIR LIKE GIANT KNIVES. THIS CAR ALSO FEATURES HUBLESS WHEELS, TO CONTEMPLATE THIS THE FRONT WHEEL WELLS HAVE ONLY A WHOLE GOING STRAIGHT THROUGH AND THE REAR WELLS ARE PROTECTED BY TWO EXTENDED COVERS, MAKING IT LOOK AS THOUGH THERE ARE NO GAPS FROM AFAR.

3: GRAPHICS -THE GRAPHICS OF THE TRIDENT ARE DESIGNED TO COMPLIMENT THE REST OF THE FORM. FIRST THE GREENHOUSE IS PERFECTLY FIT TO THE CENTER SPIKE, CREATING THE HOUSING FOR THE DRIVER. HEADLIGHTS RUN UP THE FRONT OF THE POINT OF EACH SIDE SPIKE, AND THE TAILIGHT WRAPS ALONG THE FORM OF THE VERY BACK OF THE VEHICLE UNTIL THEY MEET THE POINT OF BOTH SIDE SPIKES. GIANT AIR BLADES POTRUDE FROM THE UNDERSIDE OF THE TRIDENT TO REDIRECT AIR TO A STRIAGHT LINE AT THE REAR OF THE CAR, AND LASTLY AIR INTAKES CAN BE FOUND ON EITHER SIDE BETWEEN THE CANOPY AND FENDERS.
